With this decision came the birth of the Mana series, one of the most acclaimed and successful role-playing series of all-time. But after the surprising success of this title, developers decided it was time to transition Mana from being a spinoff series to a full-blown series. Initially, Square (the first title’s developers) focused on incorporating gameplay and narrative elements from Final Fantasy in the Mana series’ first title, Final Fantasy Adventure. The Collection of Mana is a collection of three titles from a storied series, dating back to the beginning of the 1990s as a spinoff series of Final Fantasy. Whether you’re looking for a detailed and engaging RPG, or you’re looking for a casual gaming experience to play alongside friends, Link’s Awakening is a star achievement in the Nintendo Switch’s library that most fans of Nintendo will enjoy. This remake is a perfect game for those more unfamiliar with the Zelda series, as it offers more accessible puzzles and gameplay, paired with the gorgeous "updated" art style, reminiscent of 90s games’ retro visuals. The attention to detail is evident in almost every facet of this game, and this is reflected in its enjoyability. But Link’s Awakening’s best gameplay elements are its quests, puzzles, and interactions. Combat is straightforward, with Link attacking and defending as you please with his sword and shield. Link’s Awakening is relatively open world, allowing players to freely explore as they locate dungeons and encounter enemies. To do so, he must find and obtain eight tools referred to as Instruments of the Sirens. Once he learns about Koholint and its history, he discovers that he must awaken a mystical being named the Wind Fish to leave the island. The protagonist, Link, awakes on the shore of an unfamiliar island, named Koholint, after he’s rescued by an unfamiliar face (Marin). For players who are looking to relive the emotional experience of games on the Game Boy and Game Boy Color, this game is sure to be enjoyable, memorable, and replayable. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening isn’t just an homage to the Zelda series, it’s an homage to the ethos of 90s action-adventure, role-playing titles. Breath of the Wild is not only one of the best games currently available, it’s one of the best games of all-time. And with the sequel to Breath of the Wild being in development, there’s truly no better time than now to commit some time and energy to this generational triumph. With its vast open world, freedom of exploration, and freeform storyline, Breath of the Wild redefines what constitutes being a Zelda title. But combat itself is as fluid as the game’s seamless transitions between gameplay and visuals. This means that you’ll have to carefully consider weapon choice when going into more painstaking battles. However, this is also the first Zelda game where weapons and shields can break after repeated use. Use your shield, sword, and bow as you fight through enemies that cross your path. Gameplay is similar to previous titles, with players being able to initiate and flee battle at will. Explore the land of Hyrule and all of its majestic beauty as you discover the hidden evils lurking within its shadows. Visually, this is one of the most stunning titles ever released on a Nintendo console, with as much attention given to sound design as art design, creating a uniquely holistic experience.
